The Olympics.
The Olympics in China will not in the long term be remembered for the magnificent stadiums or the fantastic opening and closing ceremonys they will be remembered for the achievements of the competitors.
There achievemts are timeless and will live on through the ages until man as finally destroyed the planet we live on.
London needs to remember that the games are not there for spectators or as an advertisement for a nation that are there for the those there to take part. I believe any plan to cut down on the Olympic village to save money should be strongly opposed by the IOC as the village is an important part of the experience of the Olympics for the Competitors.
London can never match China as Britain does not have the resources they have but what must be the priority of the London games is not legacy or television or the spectators it must be the competitors. They are what the games are about and for nothing else.

Disabled.
Been talking to a few disabled people lately and in the conversations they all said that when they became disabled through illness, accidents etc most of there close friends deserted them. Came round to say hello when they got home from the hospital and then they were gone forever.
Why do people do this? Two reasons I think. Firstly people are not good at dealing with disability. They look at someone who is disabled and all they can see is the disability not the person.Secondly there is the old, there by the grace of god goes I, and I don`t think people like to be reminded that they could so easily end up disabled as well.
The solution to this is easy. Stop treating the disabled like they were aliens from out of space and make sure they are brought into main stream society. They need to be involved and accepted into all walks of our life. The fact that no ministers in our government are disabled is a disgrace, the fact that there are very few disabled people in the boardrooms of our major company`s is a disgrace. The fact that there are very few disabled people in the media is a disgrace.
Give the disabled a chance and then people will stop treating the disabled in the disgraceful way they do at prsent.

Society!
Margaret Thatcher once said that there was no such thing as society she was right. There is no such thing as society because she killed it.
Margaret Thatcher knew the price of everything but she didn`t understand the value of society.
Society is what binds as together. It makes us feel that we are a part of something and it makes us care about others. She destroyed it by creating a country where everyone is encouraged to believe in me not us or you.
Now we have a country of individuals.Where everyone cares about there own but no one else.Where people can be left dead in flats for months on end because neighbours didn`t even know who lived there. Where if you say good morning or hello you are looked upon as being an escapee from the local mental hospital.
Can society ever return. I doubt it. I think its dead and buried and will never return.

Boris Johnston.
Before Boris Johnston was elected as London Mayor I thought he would turn out to be a disaster and so far it seems that is.
Some people get elected to office when they do not have the ability or the character to do that job. Boris Johnston is one such man.
The Conservative Party wil rue the day they put forward Boris Johnston as Mayor for London as he may not just be disaster for London I think he may also be a disaster for the Conservative Party.

British National Party.
In this country we ban certain terrorists organisations because they bring terror to people and in my opinion this is right. The question as to be asked why the British National Party are not banned as they bring terror to people not directly may be but indirectly they certainly do as in most areas where they have a presence when BNP councillors are elected racial attacks increase. They encourage and organise the hatred that sees people beat up, killed, homes vandalised, graves destroyed.
The BNP thrive on hate so they encourage it.They may not be a terrorist organisation but they are responsible for bringing terror to peoples lives.
Ban the BNP and at a stroke we would get better race relations and the violence and hatred would soon cease.
We all believe in freedom but I don`t believe people should have the freedom to terrorise and encourage hatred.

David Beckham`s Bulge!
The recent interest in the popular press about the size of David Beckham`s bulge in his new underwear advertisement proves two things. Firstly that with some men the size of that between there legs directly reflects the size of there brain and secondly how so shallow our society has become.

Meaning of Life.
What is the meaning of life. Not a clue. Don`t think there is one.All life is, is a journey through years of hell until you come to the end. If there is a god I think he probably made this world such hell so he could show us how good heaven is.
When it comes down to it. Everything is a waste of time. Nothing really means anything and worse of all the best people always get the worse life`s.
Heaven is better than earth! Of course it is, it couldn`t possibly be worse.

Gordon Brown.
Gordon Brown is an incompetent Prime Minister there is no doubt of that but I think he does have qualities that should be admired. He believes in hard work and I think he is in politics not for the glory or the money but because he wants to make a difference to peoples life`s.
I think that Margeret Thatcher left many a good legacy but the worse she left us was that she turned our system into a Presidential type system. Where its all about the leader and not about the politcs.
She made government a one person show and since then people have looked on the government as being all about the leader. Before she come along the Cabinet was a collection of equals with giants of our national life in it since she stepped on the stage cabinets have been nothing less than a collection of pigmies.
I wish we could get back to the days when it was all about policy not personality and we really had a cabinet of equals. Perhaps then we would have better government.

The Conservative Party
Todays Conservative Party is two party`s. You have the small group at the top lead by David Cameron who are Liberal, progressive and moderate and then you have the rest of the part.
Racist, Anti-European, intent on destroying the NHS, homophobic and wanting the destruction of the welfare state.
If you take a look at the web-site Conservativehome you will see the other side of The Conservative Party. The side that would destroy race relatiuons. Destroy the NHS and would turn this country back to the bad old eighties.
The Conservative Party may have changed its colour but underneath it hasn`t changed its spots!

TRUST!
The biggest question in all our lives as to be who do you trust. Can you trust a politican who says what you believe? Can you trust a friend who says they care? Can you trust a lover when they say they love you? How do we know? Some many questions but no easy answer.
I think the answer to this is we trust everyone. We should trust until they give us reason not to.Sure be cautious, the world is such a bad crazy place it is madness for anyone to accept people without question but I think life is a learning curve and all you can do is to learn about people as you go through life.

Why Bother!
Why Bother? That is the question I ask myself all the time.I have nothing in my life worth getting up for in the morning. There is no one who cares, nothing. What is the point of working hard, of looking after your health, doing anything when you haven`t got a reason for living.I just can`t see any point in it all.
All I want to do is go to sleep and never wake up. All I want is to stop feeling so alone, so sad, so worried about everything.
What is the point that is the question. There isn`t one and I just wish this would all end.
As I am totally useless I haven`t got the courage to end it all but if I did I would end it this second.
Its all so pointless. Life is all so pointless. It means nothing to me.Nothing at all.

LET DOWN!
I have always took people on face value. Always trusted people unless I had reason not too and thought that like myself people had respect for others and there feelings.
Today I was let down in a very big way. Someone who I thought a lot of, who I thought was very special walked away out of my life and will not tell me why.I thought this person was special, had a warm heart and really cared and that person as walked away at a time when I really needed them in a way that as caused me most pain.
It as hurt me more than I have ever been hurt in my life. How do you trust, love, believe in people again. I don`t know.It just makes me feel lost, alone, hurt and angry.
I have always believed that tomorrow will be better than today but at the moment I don`t. At the moment I feel as if I haven`t got a single thing in the world to live for.

THERAPY!
Told a guy doing some research for a report today about some of my inner most thoughts, secrets and feelings. With my medical condition making me face the possiblity of death I feel that I need to be at peace with myself and only by putting on record some of the things that most trouble me will I be able to feel that.
Today I said a lot that I needed to say.I needed to express to someone where I think my problems are and why they have come to pass.I said what needed to be said and god did it feel good after.I needed to tell someone the wrongs that have been done that have made my whole life so bad.
When you are let down by the very people who were there to help you grow and be able to deal with life you have to be able to let all that anger out before you can ever gain peace. I have done that and it feels better.
I now understand why people go to therapy.

Afganistan.
History as shown through the centuries that occupying forces never bring peace. There would have never been peace in Britain if the Nazis had won the last war and occupied Britain and there will never be peace as long as foreign troops occupy Afganistan.
Talk is the only thing that ever brings peace. The only way to bring peace to Afganistan is if you encourage all sides to talk to one another.
If foreign forces stay in Afganistan all that will happen is more and more people, soldiers and civilans will lose there lives.
Violence and fighting are not the roots to peace. Peace will only ever come through peaceful solutions.

LIVING WITH A DEATH SENTENCE.
I have COPD which is a lung disease which as caused me to have Pulmonery Hypertension which in turn as given me heart failure. There is no cure and I will be lucky to survive six may be seven more years.
At the moment I don`t know how I can carry on. How I can survive with this constant knot in my stomach, the never ending sleepless nights and the constant thoughts that go round and round in my head about hospitals, doctors, illness etc, etc.
I have to fight constantly to get through another day without screaming or crying. I am all alone, have no friends, no family.
One day I will stop all the medication, stop all the visits to the hospital move to somewhere restful and peaceful and just stay there alone until I die.
I would much rather die in heaven then the hell I am in at present.

GROWING OLD!
I am fifty years old on Thursday.Physicaly I feel fifty because I am ill but inside I feel the same as I did when I was fifteen. Ambitious, wanting to learn and loving change.
Change is the thing that as happened most during the last five decades. The cold war between two different ways of life as ended only to be replaced by what amounts to a war between two religions.
America as moved from being a racist country to one which could by the time this year is out have a black man leading it. In Britain we have changed from a tolerant country to one where the voices of intolerance have grown and become popular.
We have changed from a society where technology was for the rich and well off to now where everyone but the very poor have computers, mobile phones and such like.
We have changed from a society where information and education was for the few to where we are today when it is for the masses.
I have lived through the biggest change in the life of this planet that we have ever seen but have we changed for the better.
We still have great poverty in the world, in Africa the life expectancy is lower now than it as been for decades. We still have divisions in the world not by politics now but by religion and race. We still have a world where the few live well and the many live in poverty and hunger.
In Britain we have a society that as changed from being caring, law abiding and peaceful to one that is selfish, crime ridden and violent.
The changes I have seen are good but the change they have made to the world are not achieved what they could and should have done. .

The NHS.
I use the NHS a lot. I have Pulimonery Hypertension and heart failure so there are not many weeks that I don`t use it in one form or another.
My experiences of the service have been nothing but good. Sure you have to wait a long time before you see the doctor or have a blood test taken but when don`t you have to wait to do something in this country.
All of the staff I have come into contact with have been hard working and greatly skilled. Even the food was excellent when I spent time in hospital earlier this year.
It also as to be said with the government`s new policy to make it harder for people outside of the European Union to work here that many of the best nurses, doctors and even domestic staff I met were from Asian countries.Personally I think the foreign workers in the NHS are a credit to themselves and a godsend to us.
If British workers are unable or unwilling to work in the NHS then we should be welcoming foreign nationals who do want to work here with open arms regardless on where they come from.
I believe the NHS is our greatest asset. Greater than Parliament and greater than the Royal Family. We should resist moves to scrap it and privatise it.We should give those who work for it the backing and resources they need to do there jobs properly and then stand back and be pround of our NHS!

DO THE RIGHT THING!
I have always done the right thing. Never smoked.Never drunk. Never done drugs.
Always treated people like I would like to be treated. Always put others first.
Where as it got me? Totally alone. Very ill. Lots and lots of worry. Does it pay to do the right thing? Probably not, but the question is could we live with ourselves if we did anything else?

TIMES UP!
I have thought about suicide many times but have never had the courage to do it.I attempted it once but didn`t have the courage to see it through.
I can`t condemn those that do take there own life as I wish I had the courage to do it.I am ill, no friends and have no family that care`s. I have nothing whatsoever to live for.
I can`t understand why some commit suicide when they do have family and friends that care and do seem to have everything to live for but I will not condemn them as there life is there`s to do with as they please.
Perhaps if we had a society that cared, if people didn`t walk past on the other side of the road there wouldn`t be so many people who see death as the best way out.

Barek Obama
I think Barek Obama will make a great President and will be good for America and good for the world.
The question that I as an Englishman ask myself could we elect a black man to lead our government. I hope we as a nation could be grown up to vote for a black Prime Minister but the way people in this country treat people who are different from themselves and I am not talking just about white people I really doubt it.
Until we start judging people not on who people are but on the content of there character and the strength of there personality then we will continue to get Prime Ministers who are white, come from the middle classes and usually have attend private school.
We need the sort of change Barek Obama is promising America but until we as people change that change will never happen.
